Through our program, we aim to foster a new generation of dedicated caregivers who support children's growth, development, and lifelong learning.

The Early Childhood Development Program is designed for individuals passionate about working with young children. Our comprehensive training prepares future teachers, caregivers, and childcare providers with essential skills in child psychology, classroom management, early learning methodologies, and hands-on caregiving techniques.
We prioritize real-world experience, offering both online coursework and in-person workshops that focus on best practices in child development, safety, and education. Our program ensures that every educator is fully prepared to provide a nurturing, structured, and engaging environment where children can thrive.

Program Overview

The Early Childhood Development Certificate Program prepares students for careers in childcare, early childhood education, and child psychology. This 25-credit curriculum provides a comprehensive foundation in health and wellness, yoga, child development theories, safety and first aid, mindfulness techniques, educational philosophies, and classroom management.

ECD 101 - Adult &Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED (1 Credit)

Course Description:
This course equips students with essential life-saving skills for infants and young children. Participants will receive hands-on training in pediatric CPR, choking response, first aid, and AED usage, meeting national certification standards.

Learning Objectives:
  • Recognize and respond to pediatric medical emergencies.
  • Demonstrate proper CPR, AED, and first aid techniques.
  • Implement safety protocols in childcare environments.

ECD 102 - Introduction to Early Childhood Development (3 Credits)

Course Description:
Explores physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional development from infancy to age eight, integrating major child development theories.

Learning Objectives:
  • Explain developmental milestones in early childhood.
  • Compare theories from Piaget, Vygotsky, and Erikson.
  • Analyze the role of caregivers and teachers in child development
  • Understanding family dynamics and parents' engagement.

ECD 103 - Foundations of Child Psychology (3 Credits)

Course Description:
Examines emotional regulation, attachment theories, and early childhood experiences' impact on behavior and learning.

  • Apply psychological theories to early childhood education.
  • Assess the effects of trauma and attachment on child development.​​

ECD 104 - Meditation & Mindfulness for Children (2 Credits)

Course Description:
Focuses on mindfulness techniques to enhance emotional regulation, stress reduction, and concentration in young learners.

  • Implement mindfulness strategies for children.
  • Design age-appropriate relaxation exercises.
  • Evaluate the benefits of mindfulness in educational settings.​​

ECD 105 - Early Childhood Education Theories (3 Credits)

Course Description:
Explores major early education models such as Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and play-based learning approaches.

  • Design a play-based learning environment.
  • Assess the impact of structured vs. exploratory learning.
  • How every child is different and unique.
  • The strategy might not work for every child.

ECD 106 - Creative Arts & Play Therapy (3 Credits)

Course Description:
​Introduces therapeutic techniques using art, music, and storytelling to foster cognitive and emotional development.

  • Utilize art and music therapy in early childhood education.
  • Develop creative play activities for diverse learners.
  • Analyze the impact of play therapy on childhood development.

ECD 107 - Teaching Assistant Internship (3 Credits)

Course Description:
Prepares students for assistant roles in early childhood classrooms, covering lesson planning, engagement strategies, and classroom management.

ECD 108 - Family & Community Engagement in Early Learning (2 Credits)

Course Description:
Emphasizes the importance of strong family-school relationships and community partnerships in early learning.

  • Plan community-based learning initiatives.
  • Foster teacher-family communication.
  • Why do parents not engage?
  • Understanding parents' family dynamics.

ECD 109 - Yoga for Kids & Families (2 Credits)

Course Description:
Explores the benefits of yoga for children and provides techniques for incorporating movement-based learning in early childhood programs.

  • Teach kid-friendly yoga techniques.
  • Modify yoga practices for diverse learners.
  • Evaluate the effects of yoga on childhood development.
  • Basic, simple anatomy and physiology, and making it fun.
  • History of Yoga.

  • Yoga has been around for 5000 years, and how it carries over into the current history of health and wellness.

ECD 110 - Infant and Childcare Safety (3 Credits)

Course Description:
Covers essential safety practices, emergency response, and injury prevention strategies for young children.

Learning Objectives:
  • Implement safe sleep and SIDS prevention techniques.
  • Recognize and respond to common childhood illnesses and injuries.
  • Create a secure childcare environment.
  • How to be 100% available.
